Pelvic Floor Therapy

calendar

Pelvic Floor and Pelvic Health physical therapy covers the range of muscular and functional disorders as it pertains to women’s health, men’s health, and gender inclusive care. Pelvic Floor Therapy is highly specialized as it is a rather private topic that comes with its own challenges and stigmas to overcome.

This is where an understanding and accepting physical therapist comes alongside individuals who may be facing symptoms and situations such as:

  • Pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy and childbirth; many times which can occur in the third trimester, or postpartum (aka. the fourth trimester).
  • Pelvic joint problems from causes outside of pregnancy and/or childbirth.
  • Pelvic floor, trunk, and/or sacroiliac muscle imbalances.
  • Dysfunction, difficulty with control, and/or pain associated with the muscles of the bladder and pelvic floor — commonly with concerns of leakage, incontinence, urgency, or pain.
  • Scar tissue or after effects from abdominal or pelvic surgery.
  • A shift in the position of the pelvic organs, also known as prolapse.
